Undeniably one of the biggest trends of the season is Gingham. My first encounter with gingham was way back in my primary school days, our summer uniform was a yellow gingham dress. Each school around the area had a different colour gingham but looking back, I think we lucked out with the yellow. I had bright blonde hair and was always tanned so this colour-way worked pretty well for me, not that I had any sartorial knowledge of this at the time. Fast forward some twenty odd years and here I am in gingham once again.
This monochrome gingham trench coat has to be one of my hero pieces for Spring, believe it or not, it actually does go with a whole number of combinations. Today's look is pretty casual but I think it raises the thought that some effort (but not too much) has been made. The combination is simple; jeans and a t-shirt, but more often than not, simple is best. The t-shirt is a black basic from the new Rosie HW x Paige collection, and I cannot emphasis enough the importance of good quality basics. Yes they might cost a little more but they wash and wear better than any 'cheap and cheerful' basic I've ever tried and this will bring your cost per wear right down to virtually nothing. These straight cut jeans have been a favourite of mine over the last couple of months and with zero rips they are my warmest pair. The Gucci 'Princetown' slippers are the latest addition to my shoe collection and they are a prime example of my motto 'If you can't stop thinking about them, buy them'. I've worn them so much over the last few weeks and I have to admit they are a great shoe for Spring as they heat up your entire body from the feet upwards, allowing you to flash those ankles and ditch the winter coats.
Any thoughts on the Gingham trend, lets discuss x
