Happy new year everyone, I hope you all had a lovely time over the holidays! I had a couple of weeks off over the festive period but it's great to be back. As we are now entering the darkest depths of Winter we need to be prepared for the severe cold weather which will be coming our way. I know it can be tricky to create chic Winter outfits which are practical for this time of year so that's what I will be focusing on over the next couple of weeks, wearable but chic outfits for cold weather. The art of layering is one we all have to master and it really is key with keeping warm.
Today's look is all about layering, and really making use of oversized accessories like this blanket scarf. This rust coloured coat (which FYI I upsized in and bought in a size 14) is belted at the waist so is great for cinching in, giving you some shape with all these chunky layers underneath. I think we're all layering a chunky knit under our winter coats these days but remember those thermal layers as your base layer, I love this thermal range from Next if anyone is short of a thermal or five. I've gone with the whole 'neutral' colour scheme for this look, teaming the rust coat and siege sweater with these straight leg white jeans (which I customised by chopping off the hems myself). Now this is not the weather to be baring those ankles so these nude sock boots are perfect for bridging the ankle gap. My Givenchy 'Antigona' from Luisaviaroma ties the whole neutral look together and it's shoulder strap allows me to keep my hands firmly in my pockets or wrapped around my steaming Starbucks cup.
