Winter Neutrals

I came to the realisation some years ago, that there is no such thing as the perfect winter coat, because one single coat just won’t do.  We all have our weaknesses, shoes, bags, jewellery, nail polish etc.  Mine are blazers and coats.  In winter ‘The Coat’ is the main component of any outfit, it’s essentially what will cover the rest of it, so they have to be good.  Limiting yourself to just one, day in, day out, just won’t do.  I’m not saying that you have to go coat crazy like me, the girl who has already acquired 12 coats this season alone (Jesus wept we’re not even in Winter yet!), but there is a need for a few different variations, y’know, just so you’re covered for all eventualities.

This, is my first ever cream coat and it’s from French brand La Redoute.  I’ve admired cream coats on the likes of Victoria Beckham for years but I have questioned their practicality.  I might not have children (yet!) but I do have 5 dogs, a husband that requires a bib at every meal (anyone else?) and a somewhat clumsy habit of falling over in the street.  So in Hindsight, a cream coat may not be all that suitable for me, but since when has hindsight even mattered 😉

I know this will be a shock for you guys after normally seeing me shrouded in black (and all other shades of), but there’s something rather chic about neutrals in Winter.  My first instinct was to immediately pop on a pair of nude court shoes for this look but you know what, I had meetings to run to, so rather than try to convince you guys that I live life in 5 inch heels all day errr’day, I thought I’d keep it real with what I actually wore.

La Redoute has some incredible pieces for this season.  Take the chunky cable knit which I’m wearing underneath, it’s just the ultimate winter knit!  The cropped jeans are also a firm fave of mine right now but I have to say it’s their coat selection which won me over.  Check out my top picks below, and who knows maybe you’ll be tempted to catch me up in the coat collecting stakes (No but seriously, I think I have a problem 😉 )

Ooooh I don’t know if I have a favourite. I love them all for different reasons, but I do seem to keep going back to the black oversized cocoon Zara coat which was in the post ‘Wrapped Up’. It’s black so ‘quelle surprise’ haha 😉 I also have a thing for boots, they are so addictive! x
