When the heat kicks in it can be difficult to remain stylish and avoid just throwing on that simple summer dress which requires no effort. I’m not saying that I’m not a fan of the summer dress (as seen here) but I do find it’s a style-lazy option. It’s one piece and the dress kind of does the work for you.
Today I’ve gone for a more put together look with is completely appropriate for summer. It’s always cooler in a morning so I do find that I need a blazer but nothing too heavy so I go for a thin fabric with no lining. Crepe is a great slouchy blazer fabric because it doesn’t crease all that much so you can discard the blazer into the depths of your bag when the temperature starts to climb, but when you whip it out in the evening, crease free (well ish).
If you haven’t already guessed, shirts are my number one love when it comes to outfit building. I have hundreds (literally!) in my wardrobe and despite having sleeves, if you choose the right fabric they can in fact keep you cooler than wearing a sleeveless vest or tee. This amazing boyfriend fit stripped shirt (now in the sale!) is the perfect summer shirt, it’s mainly white so reflects the sun and is made from a cotton fabric so along with it’s oversized fit, it’s breathable and light. Paired with some denim shorts (to add a cool girl edge) and my new Chanel espadrilles from Vestiare (Bargains galore…check it out!) I feel styled but practical.
